Qualifications

• I received my PhD in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and my BS in Political Economy of Natural Resources from the University of California at Berkeley.

Employment history

• I have been at Birkbeck since 1997.
• Before that, I spent two years as a research fellow at the ESRC Centre for Business Research at the University of Cambridge.
• Between my BS and PhD I worked for several years as a manager, business consultant and non-executive director for a number of consumer cooperative societies in the United States.
