Qualifications

Daniele graduated in Economics at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza' and took his DPhil at the SPRU, University of Sussex.

Employment history

Daniele has worked and taught at the Universities of Sussex, Naples, Cambridge and Rome.

  • June 2006: Honorary Professor at the University of Sussex.
  • 2004-2005: Lauro de Bosis Visiting Professor at Harvard University, affiliated at the Department of Government and at the Minda de Gunzeberg Center for European Studies.
  • 2003-2004: Leverhulme Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science Link to an external web site, affiliated to the Department of Government and at the Centre for the Study of Global Governance.

Professional appointments

  • Member of the European Commission’s Expert Group “Global Europe 2030/2050”
  • Adviser: European Union, the OECD, several UN agencies and various national governments.
  • Research Director: Italian National Research Council, IRPPS, Rome.
  • Chair: Expert Group of the European Commission advising on the European Research Area's international co-operation strategy.
  • Honorary Professor: Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex.
  • Co-Director (with Professor José Molero): Interuniversity PhD Programme in Economics and Management of Innovation and Technology Policy, Universities of Madrid Complutense, Autonoma and Politecnica.
