Thesis topic

The investigation of the conflicts between the ethical values of professionals and managers in the financial sector vs. those stated by their corporate organizations in consideration of corporate value statements.

Abstract

The objective of the proposed project is to explore how aligned are the ethical values of professionals and managers in the financial sector, with the ethical values espoused by their organisations.  Do they believe them?  What therefore is their commitment to the values of the relevant organisation? The aim of my research is to explore any conflicts within the context of the decision making process which block the ability to comply with the corporate values.  I will take a primarily qualitative approach to my research by conducting an initial questionnaire, followed by semi-structured interviews and combining this with the analysis of the documented value statements of the relevant organisation and other materials that are produced within the organisation with the purpose of communicating to employees of the organisation.

Research Interests/ methods

I am currently focusing on the Corporate Governance and Ethics subjects and exploring employee vs. corporate perceptions on value statements.  Investigating the conflicts between the ethical values of professionals and managers in the financial sector vs. those stated by their corporate organizations.
