Welcome to All Our UG Finalists for 2017-18

You are now entering the final stage of your study and we would encourage you to take a look of what you have done so far and reposition yourself in order to achieve the goals that you have set for your study at Birkbeck.

Getting the most out of your final year

You are now entering the final stage of your study and we would encourage you to take a look of what you have done so far and reposition yourself in order to achieve the goals that you have set for your study at Birkbeck.

You may recall that most of our undergraduate degrees in the Department of Management consist of more than 240 credits at level 5 and 6. For example, a student on the BSc Accounting with Finance is likely to have taken 300 credits at level 5 and 6 which is 60 credits more than a typical student on a common award scheme degree programme when graduating. Under the new rule which is effective for 2017-18, only the top 240 credits at level 5 and 6 would be counted for the weighted average when determining the degree classification.

We believe that under this new rule, our students’ degree classification would be judged more equitably and compatibly to other students within Birkbeck and from other universities.

What matters after Birkbeck

We would like to see that you have realised your full potential when graduating from Birkbeck. Therefore, it is important to note that many of our module objectives are aiming to train you for the skills that employers are looking for. To that, we will continue to support you with career advice and postgraduate training.

What can we do for you?

You will be part of our community even after you graduate. Our alumni network would ensure that you stay in touch with us and any development at Birkbeck which might be relevant to your own personal and professional development.

We would continue to provide you with career support. Please note that you can meet many professional bodies such as ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW and CMI on Friday 23 March 2018 from 6pm in the Clore Management Centre.

Your programme directors, personal tutors and supervisors would also be happy to provide academic references when you apply for next job or further education.

What can you do for us?

You are our voices and ambassadors. Please share your experience on the National Student Survey. Help us to continue to help others to obtain higher education.
