Memberships and affiliations

Jean-Marc is member of the Linguistics Commission of the Flemish research fund 'Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek' (2010-2013).

He is a member of the Executive Committees of the International Association of Multilingualism (2003-2009) and AILA (International Association of Applied Linguistics), where he was Coordinator of the Research Networks (2003-2008).

He was member of the Executive Committee of the Association for French Language Studies (AFLS) between 2001 and 2004.

He has been active in assessment panels to judge research and teaching quality in language and linguistics departments in Hawaii, France and Belgium.

He has been internal and external examiner for 26 PhDs and 'habilition dissertations' in Europe, Israel, Australia and New Zealand.
