BCALS Self-Defense Workshop
On 17-Jan-2018, Professor Jean-Marc Dewaele and his daughter Livia (both Shodan black belts in karate) ran a self-defense workshop for BCALS at Birkbeck, University of London.
Attendance included a mix of Bachelor, Master, and PhD students, including Academic Staff from the Department of Applied Linguistics and Communication.

The event was fun and informative with participants learning to deflect punches, kicks and grabs, and to strike back whilst yelling loudly.
