Environmental Management (Protected Area Management) Subject Guide
Books and Journals held in Birkbeck College Library
Search the Library catalogue to find books (tab above). It can be accessed from any PC that has access to the Web and no username and password is needed. You will need your Library barcode number (on the back of your College ID card) to reserve and renew books. It is always advisable to check the catalogue rather than browsing the shelves as the Library has two subject classification schemes, relevant books can be classified at other shelfmarks, and you may be interested in reserving books that are currently on loan. Some of your essential reading may have been placed in the Reading Room Collection.
To see how the subject area is classified in the Library, click on Classification for Environmental Management.
Search the Library catalogue to find print journals (tab above). It can be accessed from any PC that has access to the Web and no username and password is needed. Print journals are kept in alphabetical order by title on Levels 3 and 4 of the Library.
The Library subscribes to over 25,000 electronic journals, many of which can be accessed from outside College with your ITS username and password. Click on the eLibrary tab above and select Ejournals to access them. Also under eLibrary you will find ePrints - a database of research papers by Birkbeck academic staff.
Link to Ecology and Environmental studies journals - a list of titles subscribed to by the Library. N.B.Some journals that may be relevant for your subject area can be accessed by using Senate House Library (SHL). All Birkbeck students and staff can join SHL by taking your Library card/staff ID and proof of home address directly to SHL. You can then access both hard copy and if available electronic journal via the Senate House Library catalogue.
