Books
Search the Library catalogue to find books (tab above). No username and password is needed.
It is always advisable to check the catalogue rather than browsing the shelves as the Library has two subject classification schemes, relevant books can be classified at other shelfmarks, and books you may be interested in may currently be out on loan.
Some of your essential reading may have been placed in the Reading Room Collection.
Birkbeck Stratford
If you are a Birkbeck Stratford student with a UEL card, you also have access to a dedicated collection of learning resources held in room 121 at University of East London (UEL) Stratford Campus Library, referred to as the "Birkbeck Stratford Collection". To search the UEL Stratford Campus Library catalogue to find books go to UEL Library catalogue. N.B. After your search results are displayed, select the ‘Birkbeck Collection’ in the ‘Refine My Results’ section on the left.
The rest of the UEL Stratford Campus Library collection can be consulted for reference purposes.
All electronic resources subscribed to by Birkbeck Library can be accessed by you via the eLibrary tab above.

Journals
Print Journals
Search the Library catalogue to find print journals (tab above). No username and password is needed.
Print journals are kept in alphabetical order on Level 4 of the Library.
Electronic Journals
The Library subscribes to over 25,000 electronic journals, many of which can be accessed from outside College with your IT Services username and password.
Click on the eLibrary tab above and select E-journals to access them.

N.B.Some journals that may be relevant for your subject area can be accessed by using Senate House Library. Check here to see if you are eligible to join. If eligible you can then access both hard copy and if available electronic journal via the Senate House Library catalogue.
