Services which will not be available
The following library services will not be provided from 22nd July until 12th August:
- There are no services available at Stratford between 27 July to 12 August as UEL’s campus libraries are closed
- Store fetching service
- No specialist LAMP services
Minimising the impact
- Users (other than affiliates) can borrow an additional 5 items during the period
- There are no books due for return between 23rd July and 12th August. There will be a rolling return date to avoid large numbers of items being due for return on the same day.
- No fines for late return of books during this period.
Birkbeck students at Stratford
For Birkbeck students based at Stratford, UEL Library Services are seeking to provide as normal a service as possible during the Olympic period. The exception will be during the Olympic Games from 27 July to 12 August, when all campus libraries will be closed.
Other libraries
Information about the availability of other libraries during the Olympic period will be made available here.
Visitor access and use
- Day passes providing reference access will be issued to students who have a place on a course for 2012/2013. You just need to bring a letter from the College which confirms your place.
- Affiliates who are already registered with the Library will be able to continue to use the Library.
- Please note that no new affiliate cards will be issued between 21st July and 12th August (inclusive) but we will issue day passes giving reference access to those who are eligible.
ID during the period
In view of heightened security, Library users are reminded to bring their Birkbeck student/staff card or their Birkbeck Library card with them when visiting the Library.
