Saturday workshops in June

Introduction to reference management workshops – Saturday 16 June

Reference management tools allow you to store your references and insert citations into a Word document to create bibliographies as you type. These workshops will introduce you to some of the freely available tools – Zotero, Endnote or Mendeley. Try one tool out by booking a place on one workshop.

All library workshops are free, hands-on and delivered by librarians. Examples during the workshop will be done with a PC, Word 2016 and the web browser Google Chrome.

10.30am – 12 pm: Managing your references using Zotero

A practical session looking at setting up a Zotero account and then searching and saving references found on Google Chrome using the Zotero one-click save button.

12.30pm – 2 pm: Managing your references using Endnote Online

EndNote Online lets you add citations to your Word document and create a bibliography in your chosen referencing style, (Harvard, APA, etc.). The ideal reference management tool if you’re a regular Web of Science database user.

2.30-pm – 4 pm: Managing your references using Mendeley
Mendeley is an excellent tool for collecting references if you regularly search the Scopus and ScienceDirect databases. Learn the basics of Mendeley such as saving references, creating bibliographies in Word and sharing resources with other Mendeley users.

Book your place on the My Birkbeck Study Skills workshop calendar.
