Library now fully staffed at all times

From the start of this term, the Library has enhanced its service by becoming fully staffed throughout its opening hours, and there will no longer be times of the day and week when we are self-service only. We have taken this decision as we know queries can and do come up at any time, and the faster they can be resolved the faster you can get on with your studies. This means:

  • There will be fully trained library staff on duty at all times the Library is open – from 8.30am to 11.45pm, 7 days a week during term-time.
  • You can also contact the Library by phone or email at any time we are open – if you need an urgent reply outside of office hours please use the desk contacts – phone 020 7631 6239 or email libhelp@mail.bbk.ac.uk.
  • At quieter times staff may be out and about in the Library rather than behind the Help Desk but you can approach them and ask for help. Library staff can be identified by their green lanyards or badges. There will always be at least one member of staff at the Issue Desk on the ground floor, who can also be approached with any query you might have.
  • There will be some queries which are best resolved by a specific person or team either within the Library (for example, your Subject Librarian) or elsewhere at Birkbeck (for example, IT services). In these cases you will be given the relevant contact details and/or your contact details will be taken and someone will be in touch as soon as possible during office hours.

We hope you will find this extended service useful, and would welcome your feedback on it.
