Library access support

The Library has a range of services which can assist you if you have a disability, including a variety of equipment.  These include one-to-one help with Subject Librarians, leaflets in alternative formats, a CCTV magnification system, writing slopes and an orthopaedic chair.

If you have particular difficulty in accessing or using the Library, you may benefit from the LAMP Service (LibrAry Materials by Post) which provides postal loans, collection of material from shelves, postal photocopies and database searches. Members of this service can also arrange for a friend, relative or helper to borrow books on their behalf. LAMP is offered free to eligible students who have registered their disability with Birkbeck.

For further information see the Using the Library section of the Library web site and select Access Support.

If there is something which would help you that we don’t currently provide, please contact us to discuss your needs and we will do our best to help.
