Using other libraries

If the book or journal you want is not held at Birkbeck Library, it may be available in a library nearby or you could request an Inter-Library loan.

You can get access to a range of other University of London libraries. Undergraduates and taught postgraduates may only get reference access. Research students can usually have borrowing rights. Each library has a different policy. See the Other Libraries section of the Library web site for more information

You can also join the SCONUL Access Scheme. Part-time students, full-time postgraduates, research students and staff may have limited borrowing rights from participating libraries. Full time undergraduates can gain reference access. Forms are available in the Library and on the web.

Books, theses and journal articles can be requested through the Inter-Library loan service. Each request costs £1.00. There is a limit of 5 requests at any one time for undergraduates, 10 for taught postgraduates, and 15 for staff and research students.
