Library materials

This subject includes information on library materials such as Books, the Reading Room Collection, Journals, Electronic Resources and Videos and DVDs. You can also use the arrows at the foot of the page to navigate.

Books

You can use the catalogue to search for books by author, title or subject. This will give you the book's location (shelfmarks). The Library uses two classification schemes. Most materials have a numerical shelfmark e.g. books about management are shelved at 658. Some older material has an alphabetical shelfmark e.g. older books about management are shelved at IWS.

The catalogue also tells you the number of copies we have and the loan status of the books. Most books are 3 week loan, but some are 1 week loan or 1 day loan, and some are for reference only.

Heavily used material can be found in the Reading Room Collection and there is a general reference area by the help desk on level 1 for dictionaries and directories.

You can also use the online catalogue to renew your books. Renewals can also be made by telephone or via the self-issue machines on the ground floor.
