Help with using the eLibrary from outside College

You must have a IT Services (ITS) username and password
- To access the Library's electronic resources from outside the College you will need to log in with your ITS (IT Services) username and password. All students are given a username and password at the start of their course. If you have not received this you can get it from the ITS helpdesk. More details on ITS accounts here
You must set the Birkbeck Institutional cookie to identify you as a member of Birkbeck
- Instructions are on the main eLibrary page - click on the eLibrary tab above. If you cannot set the cookie on your computer you can log in via one of the methods on the alternative log in page
You must have your browser enabled to accept cookies
Extra steps required to log in from outside College
- For some journals and databases you will need to look for an Athens login link. When you click on this, if you have set the cookie, you will then see a link that says "Go to the Birkbeck College login page". Click on this link and enter your ITS username and password.
Check the date of the journal article
- The Library's subscriptions are sometimes restricted to a particular date range. Go to the Ejournals search page and type in the journal title in the search box and this will tell you the dates available.
