Important: if you are doing a Faculty of Lifelong Learning diploma or certificate course you need to activate a ITS username and password for yourself: FLL online computer account activation (activation takes 24 hours).

Is the journal restricted to use in college?
Services which state VPN needed for remote access can only be accessed from college computers or from outside College via the Birkbeck Virtual Private Network (VPN). The VPN gives you direct access to the college network.
Check the date of the journal article.
The Library's subscriptions are usually restricted to a particular date range. Go to the Ejournals search page and type in your journal title in the search box and this will tell you the dates available.
If you are checking the electronic availability of a particular journal using the Ejournal section of the eLibrary, you will be presented with a Wilson Web page. Ignore the box asking you for a User ID and Password and click on "Login" where it says Athens Users. This takes you into the database. To locate a particular article you can search by the author's surname and one or two words from the title of the article using the Advanced Search screen.
