What does it cover?

  • Part of the UK Data Service (UKDS), the Crime Survey for England and Wales is a series of surveys from 1982 onwards.
  • The Crime Survey for England and Wales (formerly British Crime Survey) asks over 50,000 people living in households in England and Wales about their experiences of crime in the last 12 months.
  • As well as counting criminal incidents, it also contains extensive information about the victims of crime, the circumstances in which incidents occur and the behaviour of offenders in committing crimes.
