Support for Birkbeck Stratford Students.

Weston Learning Centre, University Square Stratford.

Laptops are available for use at the Weston Learning Centre for students with disabilities and dyslexia. They have:

  • JAWS, screen reading software;
  • ZoomText, screen magnification;
  • ClaroRead, text-to-speech and pdf conversion into text;
  • MindView, mind mapping; and
  • Dragon naturally speaking, speech-to-text for dictation;

installed. Contact the Learning Support Advisers to borrow the laptops (not available for loan outside the building).

The computers in the Weston Learning Centre have ClaroRead and MindView installed.


UEL Stratford campus.

Birkbeck students have access to the following at UEL library:

  • Book collections: Birkbeck students studying at the UEL Stratford can borrow up to 15 books from either UEL or Birkbeck collections (not available for Birkbeck Bloomsbury students).

Online services.

  • Birkbeck eLibrary: databases, e-journals and other e-resources. You can take advantage of the Birkbeck eLibrary's databases, e-journals and other e-resources. These are available via the Birkbeck eLibrary. You may need your Birkbeck username and password to access the resources.

Learning Support Advisers.

A dedicated team of Learning Support Advisers support Birkbeck students at Stratford - this team will provide one-to-one support at either UEL or at the Weston Learning Centre.
