Library induction and information skills sessions for students

Students need to know how to use the Library and find information effectively.  At the start of a new academic year subject librarians will offer an introduction to the Library. For smaller groups we can arrange this in the Library, for larger groups subject librarians can come to wherever the students are being taught.

More advanced sessions can be arranged for students later in their course of study, either in the Library Seminar room, ITS workstation rooms or lecture theatres.  The nature, content, and length of these sessions can be agreed with subject librarians. Possible sessions include:

  • How to use the Library catalogue
  • Using electronic journals and databases
  • Subject resources on the lnternet
  • How to do a literature search
  • How to cite references

Please contact your subject librarian to arrange inductions and information skills sessions.
