Note that many of these access arrangements are limited to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Students are advised to check with their lecturer about the suitability of joining a particular library before taking up the scheme below.

SCONUL Access scheme

Those enrolled on a Certificate of Higher Education and students completing extra-mural awards that is equal or greater than 60 CATS or on a degree course are eligible to join this scheme.

The SCONUL Access scheme entitles you to join other libraries in the scheme for borrowing or for reference use – though there may be restrictions on what you can borrow and the services you can use.

For further details on joining and services click on SCONUL Access you must have a clear borrowing record at Birkbeck, i.e. no overdue books. Students join by printing out the application form, complete and return it to the Help Desk at Birkbeck Library.
