Birkbeck students with extensions or writing up dissertations

Masters students

Most Masters students have Library access until the end of the academic year (30th of September). Masters students who have arranged extensions up to the end of October with their Department should bring a letter from the Department confirming that you have an extension. Library staff will extend your membership to 31st of October. Masters students with extensions beyond the end of October must have their College records extended to continue using the Library. You should contact the Registry or the Birkbeck Student Centre for information.

Undergraduate students

Undergraduate students normally finish their courses on 30th of June but may get extensions to the end of the summer to complete coursework. This is usually arranged with the Registry who will contact Library staff about extending your membership for the summer. Students should contact the Registry or Birkbeck Student Centre for information.

Certificate and short course students

The library receives end dates automatically and these are set to 28 days after the course finishes. For those on courses whose CATS points is equal or greater than 60, access is to the end of September. If students need extensions due to mitigating circumstances, their lecturer should inform the Course Administrator who will arrange for this to be implemented.

Once your extension or writing up status has been confirmed to the Library and IT Services you will have full Library and eLibrary access.
