Request a Renewal of an Interlibrary Loan
- There is a charge of £3.40 for renewing items on interlibrary loan.
- Readers should normally request a renewal one week before the item is due to be returned. However, readers may still request renewals for overdue interlibrary loans.
- Interlibrary loans staff will apply to the lending library for a renewal as soon as possible after it has been requested.
- Readers may keep the item even if it is overdue until the renewal has been confirmed or not.
- If a renewal is confirmed interlibrary loans staff will send the reader notification of the new due date and add a £3.40 charge to their library record.
- The renewal charge must be paid before any other material is requested on interlibrary loan or any other Birkbeck College Library material is borrowed.
- The lending library decides the length of the renewal period. In the case of items borrowed from the British Library Document Supply Centre the new due date will be at least 3 weeks from the original due date of the item.
- Renewed interlibrary loans are still subject to recall by the lending library at any time.
