How do I... find out if I owe Library fines/pay my fines?
You should renew or return items promptly, especially if someone else has requested them.
One and Three week loan items
Fines are 25p per day for each 3 week loan item and 50p per day for each 1 week loan item returned late. There will be a grace period of one week before any charges are added to your record (for current Birkbeck students and staff only). If you return an item on the seventh day you pay nothing, but if you return it on the eighth day the fine per item would be £2.00 for a 3 week loan book and £4.00 for a 1 week loan book.
One Day Loans
Fines are £5 per day - no grace period. Please note that these items may not be reserved nor renewed.
Email Notification
You will be sent an email automatically a couple of days before your books are due. This will be sent to the contact email on your student or staff record. External borrowers can register an email address with us. For more information please go to http://www.bbk.ac.uk/lib/about/how/enotices.
