Teaching and Learning Resources
The School of Law is an exciting and innovative environment for a wide range of research with a strong theoretical and policy focus. We use technology such as electronic learning environments, film and podcasts to enhance teaching and learning.
Birkbeck Library has an extensive teaching collection of books, journals and electronic resources in law and related disciplines, such as economics, politics and sociology. For example, it provides access to over 17,000 electronic journals, most of which are available 24 hours a day via the Internet.
You will also be able to take advantage of the rich research collections nearby:
- Birkbeck Library: The Birkbeck Library at Malet Street has a collection of law books, journals, and primary law sources including law reports and parliamentary statutes. As a Birkbeck student, you will also get access to superb electronic resources.
- British Library National collection in the humanities, sciences and social sciences - reference only.
- University College Library (UCL) One of the larger University of London colleges, situated close to Birkbeck. Reference access available.
- London School of Economics As well as housing a good law collection, the Library is also a European Documentation Centre and so provides access to a wide range of European Union publications.
- King's College London The Maughan Library on Chancery Lane holds the College's law collection.
- University of Westminster The law collection is held in the Regent Campus Library, situated near to Oxford Circus.
- Postgraduate students also have access to the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
- As a Birkbeck student, you will also be able to use other libraries nearby.
