Student loans for certificate and undergraduate students
- For the first time, the government will pay eligible Birkbeck students’ fees through the new student loan system. This means you will not have to pay your fees upfront.

Certificates of Higher Education: access route to LLB, and other preparatory courses (part-time only)
- Our Certificate of Higher Education in Legal Method: widely recognised as an entry qualification to the LLB across the UK: indeed, if you complete the award in one year, you will get a guaranteed place on our LLB, if you pass with a mark of 50 per cent or above

University of London International Programmes' Diploma in Law
- From 2011-12 the Birkbeck School of Law is offering the University of London International Programmes' Diploma in Law to home or international students.
- This Diploma, which forms part of the University of London International Laws Programme (directed by a Consortium of University of London Law Schools: Birkbeck, King's, LSE, Queen Mary, SOAS and UCL), is a one-year course. Birkbeck School of Law is the only University of London institution to offer the Diploma.
- The Diploma consists of four units (Common law reasoning and institutions, Criminal law, Elements of the law of contract, and Public law).
- It is a qualification in its own right and also provides an entry route to EITHER the second year of the Birkbeck School of Law resident students' LLB part-time or full-time OR the LLB by distance learning of the University of London International Programmes.
Qualifying law degrees: courses for students who want to pursue further law training (part-time and full-time options)
- LLB degree (by part-time study): this part-time LLB is a University of London law degree. Successful completion of the LLB qualifies you to go on and pursue vocational training (Legal Practice Course [LPC] / Bar Vocational Course [BVC]).
- LLB degree (by full-time study): offered by full-time evening study, this University of London LLB qualifies you to go on and pursue vocational training (Legal Practice Course [LPC] / Bar Vocational Course [BVC]).
- LLM Qualifying Law Degree: ideal if you have a degree in another subject and want to move onto postgraduate study in law. Graduates of this course will be able to progress directly to the Legal Practice Course [LPC] or Bar Vocational Course [BVC].

Postgraduate degrees, giving you the chance to specialise (part-time and full-time options)
- LLM Constitutional Law,Theory and Politics: This is a unique programme in London, a situation that reflects the traditional neglect of constitutionalist approaches to politics in Britain – something which is now changing fast. This degree adopts a critical, interdisciplinary approach and gives equal weight to theory and comparative case studies from across the world.
- Law (General) LLM: if you are interested in taking modules from across our portfolio of LLM programmes, but do not wish to focus on a particular subject area, you may be interested in our General LLM programme which is designed to give students maximum flexibility. If you are interested in qualifying as a lawyer or barrister, our LLB and LLM QLD degrees will be of interest.
- LLM/MA Human Rights: designed for students with some background knowledge in human rights who are interested in exploring the major contemporary debates in the area from a critical perspective
- LLM International Economic Law, Justice and Development: unique programme, training you in the critical examination of the law, institutions and practice that constitute global and local economies
- MRes/Postgraduate Diploma Law: gives you the opportunity to develop your research ideas at an advanced level while enjoying the support of a taught programme
- LLM Law and Social Justice: ideal for practitioners in development who want to pursue detailed study of law and legal theory, for those seeking a research training, and for human rights activists
