- 4 November 2009, opened the conference on 'Crisis global e interna: Constitución, Derechos, Justicia y Conflicto' at Javeriana University Bogota with a lecture on 'The Paradoxes of Human Rights'. He gave a second keynote on 'From Restricted to General Jurisprudence'.
- 30 October 2009, opened the 7th Annual Conference of the Association of Legal Philosophy (ASOFIDES) at the University of Caldas, Manezales, Colombia.
- 25 September 2009, The keynote speech at the XI Conference of the IberoAmerican Association of Political Philosophy, Bahia Blanca, Argentina.
- 8 September 2009, Stirling University, keynote speech on 'Can the Left Save Rights', at the 'Institutionalising Values: The right to political participation' Conference.
- 3 September 2009, Royal Holloway, keynote speech at the Challenging Globalisation conference where Costas launched the new Journal of Critical Globalisation Studies.
- 23 April 2009, keynote address at the 'Law, Religion and Subjectivity' conference at the Research Centre of Excellence, University of Helsinki. The address was entitled 'Can Miracles Happen? Human Rights and Theology'.
- On 25 March 2009 , Costas Douzinas gave the keynote lecture at the Graduate Conference, School of Law, Leicester University. The lecture was entitled 'The Normative Sources of Empire'.
- On 25 February 2009, Costas Douzinas gave a talk entitled 'Critical Cosmopolitanism' at the 'Decolonial Cosmopolitanism' workshop at Duke University, North Carolina.
Public lectures
- Costas Douzinas participated in a 3-hour presentation and question and answer session with the Constiututional Court of Colombia on Thursday 5 November 2009 at the Palacio de Justicia, Bogota, on 'constitutional adjudication and human rights in an age of crisis'. The session was linked through video to 32 superior courts all over Colombia.
