Legal Theory Network

The Legal Theory Network has been set up to establish a common space of interaction and dialogue between researchers in the field of legal theory broadly defined.

The aims of the Network are to:

  • operate as a supportive space in which to develop greater links, both intellectual and strategic, between Law Schools concerned about the place of legal theory within the academy
  • have an intellectual, pedagogic and political strand
  • act as a means of public discussion of the place of theory in the university
  • strengthen links between academics and graduate research students in the field of legal theory
  • achieve these aspirations by holding regular workshops and symposia on issues of interest to network members
  • set up a closer working relationship between graduate students working in legal theory and allied fields in its member institutions

The Network currently counts among its members faculty at the Law Schools of Birkbeck, Kent, Glasgow, Leicester, Oxford Brookes, Sussex, University of East London, Warwick and Westminster and welcomes expressions of interest from new members.
