Birkbeck recognises that for particular jobs it will need to recruit from a national or global market. If you have applied for any academic role or a senior administrative role Grade 8 or above, and are successful in your application the College can provide limited financial assistance for removal and relocation costs that you may incur.

Birkbeck provides reimbursement of removal expenses in respect of personal and household effects and other expenses necessarily incurred within the UK as the result of you accepting an appointment with Birkbeck. Regretfully Birkbeck does not pay bridging loans or stamp duty, nor does it pay for rentals on property or provide any loans on properties.

Expenses are normally refunded with a maximum equivalent to 15% of your starting annual salary if you are relocating to the UK from abroad, to a maximum of 10% of your starting annual salary for removals from within the UK.

You will need to contact the Human Resources department when an offer of employment has been made for further details on how to apply for reimbursement.

The School or Department administrator in which your new job is based may be able to provide you with more general guidance and assistance you may require when relocating to London.
