Making your application

All our current vacancies are advertised online without special dispensation to internal candidates unless there is a specific management need to do otherwise. You will need to apply online, we do not currently accept postal speculative CVs. However, if you have a disability that makes this difficult then please contact the recruitment team by email at humanresources@bbk.ac.uk and alternative arrangements, according to your needs, will be discussed.

The time you need to complete an application varies considerably but we would suggest you allow yourself at least 30 minutes. Applications can be saved and returned to once they have been started. This must be completed within 14 days of starting the application or before the closing date, whichever is sooner.

Birkbeck does not currently have workstation facilities for you to use to make an online application but you can get internet access from a number of places. Many cafés, libraries and job centres have computers that you can use.

When completing your application, there are some details you must provide. These mandatory fields are marked with a red star.

Please ensure before submitting your application you have read the full job description and that you have evidenced the skills, knowledge, experience, qualifications and any additional attributes you posses relative to those outlined in the person specification.

You will also need to have answered the questions in the application. These are set to confirm specific details or test your knowledge in key areas of the job. The questions will vary from job to job.

Once you have completed a section a blue tick will appear next to the section description to indicate that it is complete. Once all sections are complete two new options will appear on the screen. The first is the option to print a summary sheet showing the information you have submitted. The second is the ‘submit here' link allowing you to send your application form to us.

If your application has been unsuccessful, you will be notified via email after the closing date. The short listing, or sift, will normally occur within 10 working days of the closing date.

If you have been unsuccessful at either application or interview stage you may request feedback by following the instructions in the email that informed you of the panels decision. Alternatively you may email humanresources@bbk.ac.uk. Candidates should note that feedback may take up to 28 days.
