The Framework Negotiation Group (FNG) (comprising College and trade union representatives) has continued to meet on a regular basis in order to progress the National Framework Agreement and Job Evaluation project.
Roland Baskeyfield – Projects Officer commenced at Birkbeck to work with Vicky Booker – HR Policy Advisor towards the implementation of the National Framework Agreement and Job Evaluation project.
Extensive project planning was undertaken especially with regard to the job evaluation elements of the overall project to ensure that departments and schools could be evaluated within a November 2005 to March 2006 time period.
September - October 2005
Trained Hay job evaluators have been practising their skills during lunchtime workshops.
Job evaluation staff briefing sessions commenced. Briefing sessions have taken place in the following schools/ departments:
• Estates and Facilities
• HR
• Finance
• External Relations
• College Secretariat
• Library
• CCS
The Staffing Briefing October 2005 Update was circulated to all staff.
Work has commenced on the redesign of the National Framework Agreement and Job Evaluation website.
November - December 2005
Job evaluation staff briefing sessions are scheduled to take place within the following schools/ departments:
• FCE (Administration)
• Registry
• Faculty of Arts
The first job evaluations are scheduled to take place this month, within the following schools/ departments:
• Estates and Facilities
• HR
• Finance
• External Relations
• College Secretariat (also into early December 2005)

• Faculty of Continuing Education
Job evaluations are scheduled to take place this month, within the following schools/ departments:
• Library

Joint statement circulated to academic staff to open the job description document consultation exercise and to outline the job evaluation process.

Developing of the A-Z glossary of terms.

Agreement reached and communicated.
Continued preparation for implementation of Phase 1 of the new pay and grading structure and associated terms and conditions of employment.
