Corporate Information Systems

As with any large enterprise, Birkbeck relies on its corporate information systems (CIS) for the operation of its business and the CIS infrastructure provides the organisation’s shared memory, and the tools with which a large amount of our work is done.

CIS team

The CIS team is primarily responsible for supporting and developing central corporate information systems. We undertake the analysis, design, maintenance and development of College administrative and management information systems which include HR and Payroll, Finance, Student Records, Research Grants, Alumni, and Facilities Management.

Requests for works

Requests for work to be carried out by the CIS team should be emailed to .

Requests for lengthy/complicated jobs (generally those that require more than 1 day's effort) are handed as a projects. If you believe your request is likely to fall into this category, please provide us with some additional details by filling in this form and attach it to your email.

There is a cross-over between work carried out by the Corporate Information Systems (CIS) Team, and the Planning and Business Systems (PBS) Team. Please be aware that requests presented to either the CIS or PBS teams will be considered jointly where the request is for work on customer-facing functionality that is supported by PBS.

Prioritisation process

Resourcing and prioritisation are reviewed fortnightly with advice sought senior managers across the college where necessary.
