About us
The Birkbeck Centre for Innovation Management (CIMR) is a research centre of Birkbeck, University of London. Launched in 2008, it provides a focal point for world class research and consultancy into issues relating to the management of innovation.
Its roles are to:
- engage with academics, students, policy-makers and other stakeholders in current debates,
- disseminate the results of research undertaken by the Centre’s academics, students and visitors, through reports, journal articles, seminars and conferences,
- undertake research consultancy on topical issues,
- showcase undergraduate and postgraduate teaching on the management of innovation by members of the Centre.
The Centre’s research portfolio draws on a variety of academic disciplines across the fields of management, law, geography, economics and science policy. Thematically it encompasses the role of innovation systems, intellectual property rights, markets, social capital, entrepreneurship, globalisation, and more. The implications for management (business and public) and for policy are central to our research.
