StellarHE - Strategic Executive Development for Diverse Leaders in HE

The College is pleased to confirm that is will be supporting staff to complete the 2016/17 StellarHE – Strategic Executive Development for Diverse Leaders in HE.  The programme is targeted at Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff who are in Professional and Support, Academic and Researcher staff groups and are currently in middle to senior management levels.

About StellarHE

StellarHE is a leadership development programme recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and endorsed by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).  It is a tried and tested strategic executive development programme for Diverse Leaders (BAME) in Higher Education.  A range of HEIs are supporting BAME staff to participate in the Programme 

The programme has been designed to equip participants with the leadership competencies and strategies required to respond to the distinct challenges and experiences of BME academic and professional staff across the HE sector.  It runs from November 2016 to July 2017.

Inviting applications for 2016/17

The College is committed to sponsoring staff members to participate in this exciting initiative.  Applications are invited from BME staff in the groups below, who have already completed their probation:

  1. Academic staff at lecturer B through to Reader;
  2. Professional and support staff at Grades 6 to 9; and
  3. Research staff at Levels 3 and 4.    

Staff with fixed term contracts, who wish to apply for StellarHE, must have a contract that extends to the last module (July 2017).

Briefing session

A briefing/Q&A session has been organised on Monday 24th October 2016 between 12.30 and 1.30pm in Gordon Square, Room GOR 323.  Paul Anthony of StellarHE and the Equalities Manager will attend to answer any questions.

Interested applicants will be asked to fill in and complete the enrolment form and return their form to Kevin Coutinho, HR Strategy and Policy Partner and College E&D Lead by the Birkbeck application deadline: 27th October 2016.
