Payment in lieu of notice and garden leave

The College may make payment in lieu of notice at its discretion.  In this event the date of termination of employment will be the last day worked. The payment will take into account the base salary and any other contractual allowances/benefits received (e.g. outstanding holiday pay).

As an alternative to payment in lieu an employee may be required to work at home during the notice period on “garden leave”. During this time they may continue to benefit from all the terms and conditions of employment, but will not be able to work for any other employer and will continue to be bound by their terms and conditions of employment. In such cases, payment will continue to be made through the payroll as normal.
