Course director: Professor Nik Wachsmann

This popular and stimulating course provides a deeper understanding of the present and the recent past. A core module introduces historical approaches, as well as key national and global forces that shaped the contemporary world. Students then specialise in particular areas, choosing from modules covering a wide sweep of political ideas and systems, periods and geographical places. Students also receive skills training and expert supervision to prepare for their research dissertation.
