Caroline joined the Department of History, Classics and Archaeology in January 2019 as a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow. Her work is focused on Latin epigraphy and its reception, from antiquity to the present day, with her current project at Birkbeck investigating the production of fake inscriptions for the eighteenth-century art market. This builds on her doctoral dissertation, which considered the presence of Latin inscriptions in the private collections of Grand Tourists in eighteenth-century England. Caroline completed her PhD at King’s College London in 2015, after which she worked as a Research Assistant on the IOSPE: Ancient Inscriptions of the Northern Black Sea project, and as a Teaching Fellow in KCL’s Department of Classics. For the last two years she has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique in Aix-Marseille Université, and at the end of 2018 held a Rome Award at the British School at Rome.
