Doctoral studentships funded by the Wellcome Trust

The History Classics and Archaeology Department is pleased to announce the availability of up to two fully funded three year doctoral grants 2015-18, to work on projects that fall within the scope of Daniel Pick's five year senior investigator award, entitled ‘Hidden Persuaders? Brainwashing, Culture, Clinical Knowledge and the Cold War Human Sciences, c. 1950-1990’, funded by the Wellcome Trust.

Applications will be considered from candidates working on any geographical region, so long as the topic lies within the range of themes indicated above.

Travel funds are also available to consult key archives abroad.

Successful applicants are likely to have, a first at undergraduate level and/or a distinction at MA, a clearly crafted project and an ability to work as part of a project team on conferences, a website, a film, and roundtables, as well as on the individual research dissertation.

The team consists of the principal investigator, two post-doctoral researchers and three doctoral students as well as visiting scholars.
