This workshop seeks to explore the complex phenomenon of pain from

the 18th century to the 1960s. Room: B33, Main Building, Malet Street.

Rhetorics of Pain: Historical Reflections.

Birkbeck, University of London, will host its fourth Arts Week from 21–28

May 2011. The week will include lectures, readings, taster courses and panel

discussions and is Birkbeck’s annual showcase of the varied enterprises of

Birkbeck academics on topics both public and scholarly. The Department of

History, Classics & Archaeology is contributing to the
