Sofia holds a Land Management/Spatial Planning Engineering degree and a specialization in GIS, both from the Instituto Superior Técnico/Technical University of Lisbon. She is currently a PhD student at CASA/UCL with a scholarship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.
The main goal of her PhD research is to explore the use of system dynamics and agent based modelling approaches for the sustainability impact assessment of land use and transportation strategic actions in Lisbon Metropolitan Area.
Her previous research focused on the Integrated Evaluation of Metropolitan Transportation Infrastructures Impacts and on the design of Landscape Sustainability Tools. She has collaborated with the following research institutions: National Laboratory of Civil Engineering, Technical University of Lisbon, Leeds University and Utrecht University.
