Maurizio joined Birkbeck in September of 2008. He also works at University College London, UCL. He enjoys teaching and strengthening research links between the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) at UCL and Birkbeck College.
Maurizio moved to the UK in March 2006 to work at the Department of Geography, CASA on a project funded by the Economic Social Research Council (ESRC) and National Health Service (Southwark Primary Care Trust) that is developing geodemographic and social marketing systems to precisely target health campaigns in a cost effective way. Before arriving at CASA he obtained a degree in Economics from the University of Eastern Piedmont and a PhD in Geography from University of Trieste.
His research interests are: GIScience, Spatial analysis, Geographic Data Analysis of socio-economic and population data, Health geography, Geodemographics, methods to deploy Geographic Information effectively, Cartography and Analytical design in thematic mapping.
