Geographic Information Science (GISc) is the theory, practice and effective use of technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the description, explanation, and prediction of spatial patterns and processes.
Our advanced programme is ideal if you are a professional working with spatial data, but would like to develop more advanced theoretical knowledge and high-level practical skills. We also offer flexibility to transfer between programmes.
Our graduates originate from more than 25 countries. They complete our programme to obtain career advancement in a host of professional venues including consultancy, government agencies, local government and the education sector.
The programme is taught via the Internet, using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to deliver learning materials, submit coursework, provide you with programme information, personal feedback and a discussion forum for you to interact with your fellow students and tutors.
Announcement: Distance Learning Programmes
Due to major restructuring of the GISc programmes the distance learning courses will not run for the 2012/13 academic year. The part time (evening taught) programmes are running as usual. We apologise for any disappointment the withdrawal of these qualifications may cause.
