Geographic Information Science

PhD

The School admits well-qualified students who wish to study for the degree of MPhil or PhD, either part-time or full-time. This programme gives you the opportunity to develop your ideas in a targeted research area.

The School of Geography has studentships available for 4 part-time or 2 full-time students  (remission of fees only) per year. The studentships commence in October of each year and support students by remission of fees for 3 years study. If you are interested in applying for the studentships, please attach a letter of interest to your application pack.

How to Apply

Please contact a member of academic staff with a proposed research topic BEFORE completing an application form. This should be in the form of an abstract of around 1000 words. Contact the academic whose research interest aligns most closely with your own, and whom you would like to supervise you (browse our academics research interests).

Due to the high volume of enquiries we cannot process applications until an academic has agreed to be your advisor. If you require further guidance please contact us at the school secretary's office.
