'My time at Birkbeck has been challenging, stimulating and ultimately most rewarding: the experience has allowed me gain new confidence, which is helping me both personally and professionally.

'The BSc Geography and Environment programme has given me a taste of some of the sociological, economic and political issues we are faced with today, whether at a local, national or global scale. The course has inspired me to further investigate some of those issues and to start a master's course next year. I am also hoping to be able to work within an environment- and development-related field in the near future.

'Finally, enjoyable as it was, the degree was also hard work and without the professional and supportive teaching environment in which it was delivered I would not have been able to complete it.'
