Venue: Birkbeck Main Building, Malet Street

Book your place

You’ve been accepted onto a degree programme in the School of Law, Birkbeck. Congratulations! Now you may want to develop your academic writing skills but you’re not quite sure how.

Are you:

  • unsure of what academic writing is?
  • worried about having to write assignments?
  • struggling to know where to get help with academic writing?
  • unsure what types of writing you’ll have to do at university?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then come along to this workshop on writing success at university. In this workshop we’ll consider how academic writing is different from everyday writing and why academic writing skills are so important. We’ll think about the types of writing you might have to do at university and identify hints and tools for developing your writing skills. You’ll go away with a clearer understanding of what writing skills will be useful at university - and why. This will also be a first chance to meet other students in Law and Criminology, as well as one of the School’s learning development tutors, who provide academic skills and learning support for students in the School of Law.
