This is an informal reading group for people interested in discussing theoretical writing in the fields of racism and postcolonial and decolonial thought. We would ask you to attempt the reading and bring ideas and thoughts to the discussion.
In this opening meeting, we will be reading Sigmund Freud’s ‘Mourning and Melancholia’ and then pages 107 - 116 of ‘After Empire: melancholia or convivial culture’ by Paul Gilroy.
