Languages and Arts Undergraduate Taster Event(focus: film and media, history of art)

When:
Venue: TBC

No booking required

This Taster Event will introduce the study of film, media and cultural studies, and languages and history of art at degree level and explore the challenges and rewards of dealing with visual material. Register to attend or click the link below in further details. It is aimed at students in years 11 & 12.

Students will have the opportunity to look at works of art and film extracts and discuss their power and meanings, as well as find out about the film and media, art history and culture and language components of two of our BA programmes. These are programmes that give students the opportunity to learn and develop fluency in their chosen language and learn about the (visual) cultures originating from the countries where the target language is spoken.

The languages represented in this event are French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish; however, it is not necessary to speak any of these languages to attend.

This event will include:
•A welcome talk from the Head of the Department of Cultures and Languages, Dr Akane Kawakami
•Taster lectures, giving students the chance to experience our courses first-hand
•A chance to talk to academic staff and current students
