The Department of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics invites you to an annual event in remembrance of Professor Ronald Tress who was Master of Birkbeck and established the College's economics department.

We are delighted to announce that this year, we will be joined by Professor Silvana Tenreyro, Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and an External Member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England.

Professor Tenreyro will speak on 'Understanding inflation: Expectations and Reality'.

Speaker Biography

Silvana Tenreyro is Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and an External Member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England. She has previously served as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Mauritius and the Scientific Committee of the Banque de France.

Silvana has been Associate Editor and Co-Director of the Review of Economic Studies, among numerous other editorships of scholarly journals. Silvana Tenreyro studied at the National University of Tucuman in Argentina (BA 1997) and Harvard University (MA 1999, PhD 2002). Her primary research interests are in macroeconomics, and she has published widely in the areas of monetary policy, economic growth and development, and international economics.
