The Birkbeck College Applied Linguistics Society (BCALS), in association with the Department of Applied Linguistics and Communication (ALC), takes immense pleasure in inviting you to support our campaign for the charities Red T and Colleagues Across Borders. These charities do vital work to ensure that interpreters and translators working in combat zones and refugee camps are safe, both physically and mentally. You can support fellow linguists through online donations on JustGiving and/or by attending our landmark event!
We will host an evening of performances including music, dance, and first-hand stories from interpreters and translators in the field.
Join us to learn more about our chosen charities and enjoy performances celebrating multilingualism and multiculturalism. All funds raised will be split evenly between Red-T and Colleagues Across Borders.
Finally, you can also support this petition prompted by Red T to sensitise the UN towards these overlooked issues: Urge the UN to protect translators and interpreters worldwide.
