Her Socialist Smile is a tribute to the political thinking and imagination of Helen Keller (1880-1968), to her life-long engagement with socialist and progressive ideas and practice, as well as to her anti-capitalist activism. The film is a political biography of Keller, mostly told through her own writing, exploring how the overlooked legacy of her activism speaks to the present moment. Using a vast array of documents, archival images, onscreen text and narration, as well as other elements, such as images of nature, the film is a meditation about the inspiring power of radical ideas and the need for greater political solidarity.

Her Socialist Smile can be viewed anytime between 25 March and 30 March via the Essay Film Festival website: https://essayfilmfestival-screeningroom.com/
