Yannos Kourayos, the Ephor of Antiquities of Paros and Director of excavations for Despotiko gives the annual lecture on the sanctuary of Despotiko, Cyclades.

Despotiko is a small, uninhabited island off Antiparos, in the Cyclades island cluster in Greece. In Archaic times it was the site of an important inter-regional sanctuary of Apollo. Discovered in the 1990s, Despotiko has become one of the most exciting sites in Cycladic archaeology, offering new insights into cult activity, votive religion, architecture and the formation of regional identities and politics.

All welcome but please rsvp admin@history.bbk.ac.uk if you would like to attend.

The lecture will take place in room MAL 152, Birkbeck Main Building, Torrington Square.
